Curriculum
Classical Christian curriculum is the foundation of education at Hills of Hope Learning Center. Across every subject and at every grade level, students learn that God is Lord of all. This worldview is intentionally woven into the curriculum so that learning becomes an act of worship, and students develop a lasting love of discovery, perseverance, and academic excellence.
We tailor instruction to each child’s God‑given strengths and interests, using age‑appropriate approaches that nurture curiosity and critical thinking. Our goal is to equip students not only with knowledge and skills, but with character and wisdom so they are prepared to make thoughtful, faith‑centered choices for their future.

Reading
Students begin with a phonics-based reading program in kindergarten to build strong foundational skills. As they progress through the elementary grades, we cultivate a lifelong love of reading by using classical literature that reinforces Godly morals and character development. We use Memoria Press curriculum for our reading program; the cost of all required materials is included in tuition. Language and Writing
Children will be taught correct pencil grip and proper formation of letters in both print and cursive. As students gain control and fluency in handwriting, instruction will progress to writing activities that strengthen expression and creativity. Learners will practice composing stories, researching topics, and constructing reasoned arguments to support their viewpoints. These experiences build communication skills, critical thinking, and confidence in written expression.
A variety of resources—Memoria Press and teacher-created activities based on students’ readings and experiences—will be combined to build composition, grammar, and critical-thinking skills while encouraging creativity and authentic expression. Teachers will tailor lessons and give targeted feedback so each child progresses at a suitable pace and connects texts to their own ideas.
Math
We use Rod and Staff for early elementary math because its structured, repetitive practice helps students build fluent, automatic mastery of basic skills—an essential foundation for later problem solving. As students move into upper elementary, they transition to Math-U-See, which builds on that fluency and challenges learners to apply mathematical facts to deeper understanding and to create solutions.

Science and History
We will use a variety of hands-on materials and real-world experiences to teach science, guiding children to observe and explore the fascinating world around them. Lessons will connect scientific concepts to everyday phenomena so learning is meaningful and memorable.
For history, we will use age-appropriate materials from diverse sources, including historical novels and biographies that bring real events to life. One of our partners will be Hillsdale College to provide accurate, high-quality resources that foster an appreciation for our country and its history.
